April 8, 2016 – Visiting scholar, Dr. Adnan Degrimenciogh, of the WEF Nexus research group will be presenting a seminar titled “Optimization of the Seed Spacing Uniformity Performance of a Precision Planter.”  Dr. Degirmencioglu is visiting the WEF Nexus Reasearch Group from Ege University in Izmir, Turkey. The seminar is being hosted by the TAMU WEF Nexus Initiative. The full announcement can be found here.

WEF Nexus Research Group’s own Sonja Loy was recently featured on the Biological & Agricultural Engineering departmental website. There she shared her experiences at Texas A&M, in the BAEN department, and her research work with us, the WEF Nexus Research Group.  

On November 19th, 2015, Dr. Rabi Mohtar along with the members of the WEF Nexus Research Group attended the Navigating Agriculture through the Water-Energy-Food Nexus conference in Austin, TX. The conference sought to address the important issues including the linkages between the water, energy, and food, interdependencies and tradeoffs that will influence future policy, using the nexus on the regional scale for future planning, and preparing agriculture for climate change.   Located in Washington, D.C., at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City is The Food-Energy-Water Nexus: 16th National Conference and Global Forum on Science, Policy, and the Environment. From January 19th through 21st in 2016, over 1200 leaders will converge on the nation’s capital for a weekend filled with learning, sharing, networking, and discovering in the food-energy-nexus field. Dr. Rabi Mohtar along side the dean of engineering, Amr Elnashi, and associate dean for research and innovation, Theresa Mayer, both from Penn State University, visited Washington, D.C., to engage and discuss with government agencies over the issue of the water-energy-food nexus. While in Washington, the group also interacted the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
